Xceptance is happy to announce a software partnership with Platform Lab, the United States' only non-profit IT test and training center, located in Ohio.
Xceptance LoadTest 3.3.1 released

XLT 3.3.1 was released and offers three major improvements to increase the flexibility and simplify the usage of XLT.

Added ability to comment the test execution as well as the project test definition. All comments will be included in the test reports and therefore aid the test documentation.

The distribution of load across heterogeneous machines has been simplified. Now the agent definition within the mastercontroller properties accepts a weighting factor that is taken into account when balancing the users across machines/agents.

The WebDriver support has been improved. The Driver delivered by XLT can act as a drop-in replacement for the original HtmlUnitDriver now. Additionally, writing cross-driver scripts (e.g. supporting FireFox or Chrome) becomes easier because of the enhanced compatibility. This means your WebDriver-scripts can be easily converted into load test scripts.

This release includes additional improvements and defect fixes. The software can be downloaded from the release area.

Sermo chooses Xceptance LoadTest

Sermo, Inc., based in Cambridge, Massachusetts, is an online community where physicians can pose questions, share insights, and work together to improve patient care.

They have chosen to use Xceptance LoadTest throughout their development and testing process because of the many advantages XLT offers in terms of flexibility and support.

As a pure Java tool, XLT allows Sermo to leverage its existing development environment, Eclipse. At the same time, they are not limited to a single operating system, and can continue to use both MacOS and Linux. XLT is also able to handle JavaScript, including during load testing.

The simple and efficient licensing model allowed them to purchase a product scaled to their needs, without having to give up on fast and personal support when questions arise. Sermo engineers first worked with Xceptance consultants before taking over the testing, and Xceptance also built custom features based on Sermo’s requirements to better integrate XLT into Sermo’s development environment.

As the Sermo community continues to grow and Sermo enhances its platform with new features, they will be able to count on XLT to expand along with them.

With the release of Xceptance LoadTest 3.1.0, a new version of the established regression- and load-test software is now available. XLT 3.1.0 makes it easier to tie XLT into existing build processes and simplifies the execution of load tests.

The most important changes:

Load tests can now be executed serially and automatically. This simplifies the integration of XLT into build processes.

Load tests as part of the build process or on individual machines profit from the new embedded mode.

The generation of reports can now be set to occur automatically after a load test.

The step-editor in the recorder can now be opened in a dedicated window.

XLT updates in release environments are simpler, since the documentation is provided as a ZIP archive.

Additional small improvements and bug fixes round out this version.
