Flexible Licensing, Lower Costs

Xceptance LoadTest can be used with three different license types.

• The Basic License is available free of charge to anyone and permits development and recurring execution of all test scenarios with up to five virtual users.
• For the execution of load tests with more than five virtual users, you need a Standard License. The cost of the standard license is defined by your testing needs.
• Open-Soure projects can request an unlimited, free Community License.

Basic and Standard Licenses are not subject to any usage restrictions, so that you are free to use XLT within you company or in your consulting projects. Community Licenses are only allowed to be used for non-commercial purposes by the open-source project itself.

The software package is identical for all license types, because they each include all of XLT's functions. License holders are granted permission to re-distribute the software package under the condition that it is copied and distributed as a whole (with all included files) and in unmodified form.

The license types are distinguished by the license file only. Thus, changing from a Basic License to a Standard License simply involves the purchase and deployment of a new license file.

Xceptance LoadTest does not use any license servers or dongles. This simplifies your license management and enables you to use XLT in closed environments and in consulting projects. The number of seats and the number of active master controllers is not limited, however, you are not allowed to work in total with more than the licensed number of virtual users.

Xceptance offers comprehensive support packages which can be purchased in conjunction with any of the three license types.

Basic License

If you download the XLT software package free of charge, you automatically own a Basic License. You do not need a license file and can immediately start developing and executing test cases with up to five virtual users.

The Basic License can be used without any time limitation, for non-commercial as well as commercial applications.

Standard License

To execute load tests with more than five virtual users you need to purchase a Standard License. You can define the license volume and validity period yourself, according to your testing requirements, and then purchase a customized license file from Xceptance (on-demand licensing). The minimum license purchase is 100 virtual users for a minimum period of one month, for example, from March 17th to April 17th.

The license volume can change monthly. You only pay for what you really need. If you would like to simulate 500 virtual users in March and 10,000 in September, that's not a problem. If you don't run load tests from October to January, you won't pay a penny during this time.

You can, of course, also purchase a license with a constant user count that is valid for longer than one month; longer term licenses can also be extended on a monthly basis.

Community License

Xceptance Software Technologies uses open-source components and would in return like to support the open-source community by offering a community license.

A community license permits the simulation of an unlimited number of virtual users. The license may be shared and used for non-commercial purposes within an approved open-source project. However, the open-source project must not offer the license file on the Internet for downloading.

Conditions:

• The project is licensed under an open-source license approved by the Open Source Initiative.
• The project runs a publicly available website.
• The project source code is available for download.
• The project is still active, meaning that development is ongoing and there are new releases periodically.

If you would like to request a Community License for your open-source project, please use the application form. If all prerequisites are met, you will receive a license file that is individualized with the name of your open-source project. The Community License must be renewed annually.

Project members can also get access to the XLT discussion forum and to the XLT issue tracking system.

Training

For an effective introduction to XLT, we offer individual product trainings. You get an overview as well as detailed information about the features and technical aspects of XLT, so that you very quickly become productive with XLT.

The training is held by experienced experts, who actively participate in the architecture and development of XLT and carry out regression and load testing using XLT regularly. They will also gladly answer your detailed questions.

The XLT training takes four hours and is limited to 10 participants.

Support

Xceptance offers optional, comprehensive support packages, which can be purchased in conjunction with any license type. So you can use our support services, for example, together with a free Basic License.

Standard e-mail support ensures a response time of 24h for all support requests that are received during business hours (Monday to Friday, 09:00 a.m. - 06:00 p.m. CET, except for public holidays).

The minimum support contract duration is one month. For longer durations individual volume pricing is available.

Support services are limited to one man-day per month. For each support contract two contact persons can be registered, who are authorized to send support requests using their e-mail addresses.

Support customers also get access to the XLT release management system, including access to the XLT discussion forum and to the XLT issue tracking database.
